April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball athletes to win medals more than once at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman will compete with April Ross in Tokyo for her third gold medal over the next few days. In addition, Ross hopes to win her first Olympic gold. And at the age of 39, it could be her last opportunity to do so. But she's confident top awards can be achieved. Ross through NBC Boston, said that when the team performs well or at all it could be able to win gold. This is also a matter of chance. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her mother, father and sibling. She went on to compete in numerous activities during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She competed in basketball and the track as well as her indoor volleyball exploits as a pre-collegiate athlete. But she stood out in this sport. According to her biography, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitter on the volleyball court during her senior year at high school. Gatorade Circle Of Champions named her as the National Player in 1999. The skills she showed in volleyball also earned her an Orange County Athlete of the Awards in 2000. Ross and Klineman have been performing their roles from the year 2017. But, Ross was an important player in the beach volleyball scene prior to the pair. She has won major tournaments twice with different partners. A couple of those has become an icon in the volleyball world. For six years from 2007 to 2013 she teamed with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Together with Kessy Ross, she was a major force on the international circuit winning the world championship in 2009. In the 2012 Olympic Games, they were awarded the gold medal. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the group that could take home the gold. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate when Maytreanor retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross began her college professional career playing for the Trojans of USC following high school. It was a long time before Ross made her debut on the beach and became a pro. Her time in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. When she was a freshman at the school in 2000 she fought her way to Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman of the Year honors and was also an All-American. She also helped her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. During her sophomore year she suffered a tremendous personal loss but still managed to be a second All-American. In her last two seasons within the team, she guided the Trojans towards the top of the mountain netting successive national titles. The achievements of each individual have established her place as a legendary volleyball player. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the privilege of watching her daughter grow into the beach volleyball's biggest star. Ross's mom passed away due to breast cancer when she was a sophomore in USC. But, she will always hold her lost parent near and dear. Margie is an inspiration on and off of the beach.
