Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi together with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It went on to become the most streaming music of that moment within just six months. The mix of reggaeton with pop music has not only brought an interest to the genre, but it also brought attention to Latin music in general. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish mostly, and four in 2016. In the midst of Despacito's fame in the year 2017, there were 19 mostly Spanish tracks that made the top 100. In 2020, it was 41. Justin Bieber re-mixed Despacito with an English version in the year 2017 shortly after which popular artists began working with reggaeton acts. Drake teamed with Bad Bunny to produce MIA (2018), while Madonna was a part of Medellin together with Maluma (2019). From the beginning of 2020, some reggaeton musicians were unhappy with the way the genre was shifting towards the more mainstream. Rauw Alajandro is a part of a new generation that aims to change the course. Incorporating elements of electronic dance music, and various other genres was a typical procedure.
